Xiaomi, Xring O3, 42%, 3 nanometers define the Chinese giant's new direction as it unveils a fresh generation of processors amid component shortages and a red financial outlook. The firm revealed that the Xring O3, an AI‑focused chip built on a 3 nm process, will power the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Fold flagship foldable smartphone.
The launch coincides with a 42 % decline in Xiaomi's profits, reflecting global inflation pressures and fierce competition in the mobile market. Nevertheless, the company stresses that owning its own silicon is essential for long‑term growth.
The Xring O3 integrates dedicated AI cores capable of on‑device vision and language inference, cutting latency and reducing reliance on cloud services. Its 3 nm node offers higher performance per watt compared with rival 5 nm designs.
In addition to the O3, Xiaomi introduced the Xring O100, a 6 nm processor aimed at bolstering AI functions in mid‑range devices, and the Xring D100, another 3 nm chip tailored for autonomous driving applications. Both are slated for release next year.
The AI‑first approach
By centering on artificial intelligence, Xiaomi plans to embed advanced features such as real‑time translation, facial recognition, and camera enhancements directly into its hardware, differentiating its products in an increasingly crowded segment.
