The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon UNITE will permanently shut down its servers on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, setting an end date for online matches after more than five years on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
This announcement marks the beginning of the final chapter for the strategic team battle game developed alongside TiMi Studio Group. To express gratitude toward the community of Trainers who supported the title throughout its lifecycle, the development team will roll out a farewell update on November 12, 2026, at 04:00 UTC. This patch introduces a commemorative event along with a dedicated offline preservation feature designed to keep personal player records.
A commemorative event to unlock past content
Among the additions scheduled for November 12, Pokémon UNITE will launch the Unite Coin Exchange, an exchange shop where players can acquire past items using special Unite coins. The catalog includes Unite licenses, Holowear outfits, Trainer fashion items, and elements for Unite snapshots.
To earn these special Unite coins, players can take advantage of daily login bonuses and special event missions. These tasks are completed by winning ranked matches or participating in other available game modes, awarding one or more coins with every victory achieved before the servers officially go dark.
The library feature to preserve memories offline
The central component of this update is the Library feature, created to allow Trainers to visit the Practice Area and review their collections even after online services cease permanently on March 23, 2027. The feature offers a main menu hub where users can customize their Trainer's look, display their favorite Pokémon alongside chosen Holowear, and hide interface elements to capture commemorative screenshots.
Trainers will also be able to review owned Unite licenses, test move animations and Holowear visual effects inside the Practice Area, swap outfits in the closet, and adjust their Unite snapshot cards. Battle items, held items, and boost emblems will remain accessible for viewing only, prompting the developers to recommend fusing emblems and upgrading held items before the cutoff date.
A crucial condition detailed in the official announcement is that all library asset data must be downloaded within the game client before the server closure. Players who fail to complete this initial download before March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC will be unable to access the feature afterwards. Additionally, The Pokémon Company noted that library data cannot generally be transferred between devices and customer support will no longer be provided after the shutdown.
